Description
Rosehip, the fruit of Rosa canina, is one of the most well-known and longest-used fruits in European nature. In the Czech lands it has a long tradition – gathered for generations, it has become part of home cuisine as well as herbal practice thanks to its distinctive, gently tangy flavour and natural aroma. In folk tradition, rosehip symbolised abundance and protection. Its fruits were often hung near doors and windows, as people believed they brought strength and safety into the home. Rosehip branches were also a popular seasonal decoration during late autumn. In scientific literature, rosehip is mentioned in connection with themes such as the body’s natural defences, the normal function of the urinary system, skin health and overall refreshment. Under EU legislation, however, we cannot state any health effects of herbs.Rosehips have a naturally fresh, fruity and slightly tart flavour, which develops beautifully in teas, syrups and fruit-herbal blends.
Preparation
Pour 250 ml of boiling water over 5 g of dried rose hips (approx. 2 heaped teaspoons). Steep for 8-10 minutes. Then strain. We recommend drinking 1-2 cups daily.
