China Liu An Gua Pian "Melon Seed", 40 g

Liu An Gua Pian is one of the most renowned and highly regarded green teas from China's Anhui Province. Its history dates back several centuries, and during the Qing Dynasty it was designated as a tribute tea reserved for the imperial court and the nobility. To this day, it is valued for its distinctive character and traditional production methods, which have been passed down from generation to generation in the Lu'an region.The name "Gua Pian", meaning "melon seeds," refers to the characteristic shape of the processed leaves, which resemble melon seeds. Unlike most premium Chinese green teas, neither buds nor the youngest shoots are used in its production. Instead, only carefully selected mature leaves are harvested. After traditional processing, they produce a tea distinguished by its full body, purity, and harmonious flavour.The leaves yield a greenish-yellow infusion. Both the aroma and flavour combine sweet notes of Galia melon with a delicate nutty hint of sunflower seeds.Liu An Gua Pian is an outstanding example of traditional Chinese tea craftsmanship and rightfully ranks among the finest green teas of its country of origin.

Bring the water to the boil and then let it cool down to 80°C. Use 10g of tea (approx 6 heaped teaspoons) for 1l of water. Allow to infuse for 2-3 minutes. Strain and serve. Suitable for 4 infusions.
